iTunes Sync: SuperSync

I am evaluating different software to sync my Library on 2 computers that are not on the same network,  The computers are located in 2 different shops.

The software is available at:

The installation process is simple, but the user interface is not that simple like my previous blog about another  iTunes sync tool MyTuneSync.  I did the same simple iTunes test as with MyTuneSync. Trying to get two small iTunes Libraries in sync.  Once i have setup both computers with supersync and connected the two servers you get a main window with a lot of colors and symbols. It took me a while before i got acquinted with this user interface.   The software is capable of keeping the libraries in sync. You add and delete songs and podcasts. Another must have is  artwork metadata syncing, supersync is  capable of doing this. So i decided to buy the software and then i run into problems that i did not expect. The test was done with the same user id and iTunes Library path.

In the real world i have different users and the iTunes Library Path is also different.  I installed the licensed software on 2 computers.  The 2 computers uses a different user id and a different location of the iTunes Library. In this situation you must login on both computers and see what the differences are and do a get command.  The ideally situation is that you login on one computer compare the libraries and do a sync or put to the remote site. If you decide to do this then the song will be added to the remote iTunes Library path, but not automatically added to iTunes.  I have made a temporary solution with the aid of symbolic links to overcome this problem.
  1. Create a  iTunes symlink in the  ~/Music directory to the real iTunes Library Path, e.g.: iTunes -> /Volumes/Muziek-Beverwijk/iTunes 1/).  This must be done on both computers
  2. Create  a symlink in the /Users directory for both computers.   The userid on computer 1 is beverwijk and on computer 2 purmerend.  Then create on computer 1 the following symlink in /Users, ln -s beverwijk purmerend.  On computer 2 the vica versa.

I have reported this issue +/- 2 weeks  and some other at the super sync website. Where a statement is:
  • If you run into problems, let us know -- we'd like to help. Your feedback is always appreciated and we usually respond within 24 hours. You can also use the "Submit Bug Report/Suggestion" item from SuperSync's Help menu.
I have read the not so flattering comments on supersync, but i thought it is a year later and maybe they solved a lot of problems:

PRO's
It will also grab music from iPhone, iPod and iPad.
It does artwork sync.
It is capable of deletion of songs and podcasts.

CON's

No community area.  Would be nice to have a Forum.
Did not have any replies for my reported issues. So for me support is failing.
Does not work if the user id's and iTunes Library locations are different.
The schedule option was not what i expected to be. I can not be used for automatically sync the libraries at a specified time.

  2. The support from SuperSync is really bad. I have reported four issues more then one month ago and till today i did not receive an answer. Maybe the SuperSync support is on holidays.
